Trimming my hair

Second time I've cut my hair since I've been at university. I'm currently trying to grow it out long again but as you can see, the ends of my hair is DEAD ): Just a trim to reshape my outgrown hair. FYI, I used both normal hair scissors and thinning scissors, and switch between the two a lot during this (I don't know if you will be able to tell but the thinning scissors is the one that has a comb like blade on it). How To Cut Hair At Home - Tools

!±8± How To Cut Hair At Home - Tools

There are three methods of cutting hair. They are scissor cutting, clipper cutting and razor cutting. We will focus on scissor cutting and clipper cutting because razor cutting is a much more advanced technique which requires a significantly more amount of practice time and it requires much more finger strength. However, the razor can be great for adding texture. Regardless of the method you choose it will require a certain set of tools. Some tools you may use are a cape, spray bottle, 7 inch and rat-tail combs, butterfly or similar type hair clips, hair cutting scissors, clippers and trimmers, clipper guards and thinning shears. You should be able to get all of these supplies at a beauty store near you. Make sure to call ahead of time and find out if they sell products to the general public because a lot of beauty supply stores are actually distributors for licensed professionals only.

When selecting a cape you will notice there are many types to choose from. You will see hair cutting capes, color or chemical service capes, multipurpose capes etc. I recommend trying to find one that is light weight and not too bulky. For example, color and chemical capes are made of a thick plastic to ensure the clients clothes don't get stained with color or get saturated with perm solution. I have found these capes to be too bulky to use for cutting hair so I prefer a cape that is light weight and made of cloth. If you're trying to cut cost you can use a torn garbage bag but please don't use this technique on a small child due to the risk of suffocation. I would avoid using a towel because it is really hard to wrap around the person without a lot of the bulk getting in the way.

The most common comb used when cutting hair is the 7 inch styling comb. It is a great tool for many reasons. First of all, the spacing is different on either side of the comb. One side has teeth spaced really close together and the other has teeth spaced a little further apart. This allows for different amounts of tension. When the teeth are spaced closer together you can comb the hair with much more tension. This is great for creating very precise lines to cut. When the teeth are spaced further apart, it allows you to work with larger amounts of hair. This comb also has markings at every inch which makes it easy for you to determine how much hair to cut or how much hair to leave on the head after cutting.

Another comb I like to use is the rat-tail comb. This comb is great for precisely sectioning hair because of its pointy end. Also, the spacing of the teeth is close together so it works great for stretching small sections of hair in order to cut precise lines.

When selecting clips there is no need to be picky. The main idea when selecting clips is to make sure it will hold a significant amount of hair since it will be used to clip large sections of hair out-of-the-way.

Hair cutting scissors are a must. You absolutely cannot do a decent haircut without them. Really sharp craft scissors will not do the trick. Also, just like you wouldn't use craft scissors to cut hair, don't use your hair cutting scissors to cut anything but hair. Hair cutting scissors come in a variety of shapes and functionality. You don't need to get really fancy when selecting a pair. I would recommend the scissors be a minimum of 5 ¼ inches to a maximum of 5 ¾ inches long.

Do-It-Yourself Hair Cuts

!±8± Do-It-Yourself Hair Cuts

Almost every day do we encounter problems with our hair styles. It could be those lousy bangs covering your eyes, making you have a difficult time seeing. It could also be the overgrown hair which bothers you during hot afternoons. The best solution to ease these inconveniences would be a quick trip to the salon. But then, wouldn't it be better if you can have a hair cut right at the very comfort of your own home?

Fix your hair problems without having to go very far! Here are a few important items which you would need in order to properly achieve your desired hair cut.

Comb: Save yourself from the difficulty of neatly placing hair strands on one side of the head. Purchase a fine-toothed comb in order to smoothly form the hair strands, and to segregate those which needs to be trimmed from those which should be retained.

Professional hair shears: It is high time for you to break free from tradition. Get rid of that "one scissor fits all uses" mentality. Do not use sewing scissors or kitchen scissors in trimming your hair; instead, look for a good pair of hair shears. These are necessary for you to appropriately shape you head hair, or for you to precisely trim your unruly bangs. These hair shears are available in a number of product stores, or you can also refer to supply catalogues for a variety of brand choices.

Water bottle/sprayer. This comes in light, handy containers which could provide you the ample amount of water necessary in trimming your hair. It would be a good tip to wet your hair strands before actually cutting them, so that it would be matted down, making it easier to determine which needs to be cut or trimmed.

Mirror. Do not attempt to do hair styles without observing it in front of a full mirror. You might not be able to estimate which way your hair shears should move, if you are not seeing what you're doing.

These are but among the basic tools you'd need in getting a personalized hair cut.

Dog Grooming Business Equipment and Supplies List

!±8± Dog Grooming Business Equipment and Supplies List

There are many different types of equipment professional dog groomers use. There are things available to you to use that you might not have even knew existed. When you start up your dog grooming business, it is important to have, at the very least, the basic supplies and equipment. Once your business starts growing, you will then have the money to invest in more types of equipment and/or supplies.

The first set of grooming tools you will need are brushes and combs. A slicker brush helps remove mats and dead hair in the dogs coat. If there is a really tough tangle in the fur, you can also use a pin brush. The pin brush allows you to untangle a knot in the safest and least painful way. You will also need a medium and course wired metal comb.

Other types of dog tools you should have are a good pair of dog nail clippers. It is good two have two sizes of nail clippers, one for little dogs and one for larger dogs. If you only have one pair, the larger one should work on all types of dogs. It also would not hurt to have a small container of styptic powder, just in case you were to cut too far up the dogs nail.

All dog groomers should have cotton balls, Q-tips, dog shampoo and ear cleaner on hand. You should have many different types of dog shampoos for different types of situations. Some dogs have sensitive skin, extremely dry skin and/or fleas. They make a wide variety of shampoos for all of those purposes and more. Of course, one of the most useful items would be a dog dryer.

Lastly, you will need to have plenty of scissors and clippers in order to trim and style the dogs fur. If you are grooming a dog breed that has a lot of hair in the ears, it would help to have a pair of 5 inch straight hemostats to trim in the ears. You will need at least one pair of dog grooming clippers with different sized blades. There are two types of scissors that are needed. One type is a 6 inch straight dog grooming scissors and the other is a 6 inch curved dog grooming scissors. Thinning shears are used to thin and shape the coat, especially in sensitive areas.

The equipment and supplies listed above are just the basics that most dog groomers use. As your business grows, you will also be able to grow your supply inventory. It is wise to expand your equipment and supplies with your first few months of income, so that you can offer even more services and choices to your clients. It also gives your business more professional appeal.

Quick and Easy Guide in Thinning Your Hair

!±8± Quick and Easy Guide in Thinning Your Hair

If you're one of those who must have their hair cut regularly, you're probably using a cut of dilution. This type of hair scissors, typically used by hairdressers is technically designed to give more flavor and texture of hair. The sole purpose of using a thinner look to the hair thinning scissors and remove the extra mass for a finer, without having to cut down. Most hairdressers go on labels known as shear thinning Bonica. With a good quality of cut-will help achieve a better look.

Thinning shears are pretty much similar to a regular scissor; the only difference is that instead of ordinary blades, it has toothed blades that resemble a comb. It is mainly used to shape and thin hair without having to modify the style. The toothed blades generate uneven cuts creating a more textured look. People who have thick hair usually use shears to thin down their hair for a lesser bulk. It is also commonly used by hairstylist when layering the hair.

With the right tool in hand, you can thin your hair on your own; here are simple steps that could come in handy.

o To thin out long and thick hair, smoothly comb your hair. Divide the hair into smaller sections as it will be much easier for you to work in small sections; start by working on the first section. Slide the shear somewhere between 1/3 or half way along the length from the scalp, create a single snip then remove. Next get a comb and start removing excess hair that has been cut by combing the whole area. After which, go to the next section and repeat the process.

o If you have to go back to the previous section of hair, repeat the same procedure; this time only make a snip 1/3 away from the ends of the hair. This is done to taper the fullness of hair. Always create uniform cuts and never make any unnecessary thinning since it will give the hair a scanty look. If you have to thin out your hair the third time, pass through the middle part of the hair.

o Remember to invest in high grade quality shears; one recommended brand of thinning shears is Bonica shears. Ensuring that you are using a good quality thinning shear will get the job done easier and faster and the result will be amazing.

o To create modish looking bangs, use the thinning shear half way down the hair shaft. If you just want to put an added texture on the ends of your bangs, all you have to do is to create a snip on the ends of the bangs.

These are just some of the simple, quick and easy to follow steps that will guide you in effectively thinning out your hair. But it will still be best if this will be done by a professional stylist, you will be ensured to achieve a better looking hairstyle. Moreover, hairstylists are equipped with only the best thinning shears like Bonica shears which is a very important tool to perfectly thin out the hair for a more textured and edgy look. Grab one and come out with the same professional style you get in a salon.
